Yeah. Go then. Who needs you leaving hairs all over the place anyway? Don't let the door hit your scrawny ass on the way out ... etc, etc, etc.

You again?

And as for Dire's scrawny butt, let's not leave out your prodigous posterior. I'd say don't let the door hit you on the way out as well, but I don't know if you can get that can through the door.

Oh, speaking of my Irish heritage, this seems rather apt:

The broth of me stubby shillelagh indeed.

That was a tonic – thank you. I’ve been around and about here most of the day as it happens. Did you see old Bill Orchidghost’s essay on Pigpen? http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=138843
Not that the old windbag needs any props from me but the man writes a fine piece.

Top of the morning – or whatever time of day it is now – to you, Patrick!

Yes, that was a fine post indeed. Exceptionally well
constructed and a true testament to the man's command of early-Dead history. But don't tell him I said that. His head is already large enough without me adding to its volume.

Here in the desert it is coming up on 10 AM and the temperature is a brisk 101. Almost need a sweater.

I heard that.

My head hasn't been all that large since, I think, 1972, when I was last seen smiling on a cloudy day.

It is good to see things near back to normal with ya'll. Rob trying to get Dire's fur up etc. Good morning gentlemen. On a serious note. Please do everyones best not to throw accusations around willy-nilly. No matter what the admins post, accounts have been in the past and have recently been locked. I have seen the proof of this. It is getting harder to be a thorn in the side multiply without doing a lot of work, so things will get better in that respect. I hope I haven't escalated the problems with all of you. That was never the intent. It was to give back what was being given and I like to perform these duties in person as opposed to behind the scenes. And as an aside, userunknown is who he says he is and doesn't need any proof from anyone. You can tell by his his most recent posts he's a man of integrity and is in for the long haul. I will be around for a little while...there was a loss in the family and will be spending time with Mom until the sorrow passes. Things like that will show a person a little perspective.

Well, Mr Blades. In all honesty I’m in two minds whether or not to take your posts, or indeed your very existence seriously. However, since I was shooting my mouth off recently about addressing the post and not maligning the poster that’s what I’ll try to do here.

I’d love to see the proof for myself that accounts have been locked recently because the notion doesn’t square with Alexis Rossi’s post yesterday. Can you provide that proof and post it up for all to see? If you or anyone else can provide evidence of these behind the scenes machinations then I for one would be most grateful.

If the evidence can’t be furnished then in my humble opinion the subject should be dropped. In these troubled times I am disinclined to accept anything on hearsay, trust or faith. I’m sure someone in your line of work will understand that, Mr Blades.

Mr. Wordsmith, when I have tried to log into my account the last week or so I received a message in red saying my account was locked. After two emails sent to info@archive.org explaining my legal rights according to their user's agreement and the askance of a review of my forum entries vis a vis Mr. Belski2, I found myself reinstated this morning. As I am not a multiple handled poster that couldn't have been the reason for my lockout. And that probably couldn't be determined anyway because with each email address a new IA account may be opened. Also a user of more than one computer, i.e. library, work etc. the IP's would be different. My conclusion is the give and take between him and I was reviewed and I was included in the bounce. Also as I found in my investigation Mr. B was using proxy servers that hide the IP you are on...it is used to bypass restricted sites on school or other computers. If you would like a screen shot of my login screen with "your account is locked" I am sure I can dig one up in my history. I have no reason to lie to you or anyone for that matter.

Frank--I really appreciate you posting your story. It supports what I thought (vis a vis what admins had done in the past). I am one that thinks we just have to suck it up and live with the troublemakers, but I also have no problem with living in a relatively restricted, rule oriented landscape (anal retentive at heart; isn't anyone that has rows and rows of CDs of shows by year and month and...).

Too bad you were sucked into the 'solution,' but glad to have you back.

That is the question that prompted my response the other day to Alexis...Though again, Rob, I agree that it would be difficult to undertake this restriction.

All I can off is observation: at a time when it got 'bad' some months ago, my observation was suddenly a certain troublemaker that was posting multiply, PLUS co-opting handles of other legit posters, was stopped, and all posts by the offender eliminated, and we were told, by a mod (I am almost certain--Dire can back me up or correct me) that multiple posters were not permitted (ie, having multiple names associated with a single IP and single email address).

That was my understanding; doesn't jibe with Alexis though.

And it doesn't really matter, as I kept babbling on about yesterday. Though, as you know, I started my life at the forum as a 'play by rules, and rules are okay, but should be mutually agreed upond, blah, blah, blah," I now realize it isn't worth the effort and the good guys can still make this place work with little external moderation necessary...

Until the next attack has me clamoring for external control.

I had never thought of our Scottish friend as a freshwater catfish, but now that you mention it, I can definitely see a correlation.

I'll have you know that I recognize all the sceintific names associated with that image...just so you can judge what kind of nerd you are dealing with.

We should be able to find a much more appropriate likeness for our Scottish friend--Loch Ness perhaps?
